I try to cater to the each student's particular needs. For beginning students that are children I typically start with the Essential Elements Strings Book 1 in combination with Suzuki first book. As every student progresses at a different pace, I adjust my teaching curriculum accordingly. For 2 to 4 year old students, I use Mozart mouse series. For 4 to 6 years old students, I usually use Faber series and older students, I like to use Basien series. For violin, I start with Suzuki method and as they progress I add wolfhart, scale and solos for young violinists by barber. Once the student has progressed and appears to grasp the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce etudes and solo pieces. I also teach students elementary music theory related to the pieces they are learning. For advanced students, I focus more on their technique and performance. A student will develop a loving connection with music under my study, whatever that music may be. More foundational technique learning such as practicing certain scales, arpeggios, etc. will be evaluated. Many students have different preferences for their practice and may want to structure it differently than how is commonly taught. I make it vital to make practice something that can be enjoyed while also being a puzzle or challenge just enough to make the student want to keep going, learning things on their own that I can guide them along.
