I use a variety of method books--Bastien, Hal Leonard, John Thompson, and Faber are all favorites of mine for piano. For strings, I stand by the Suzuki method and String Builder series. Instruments: Violin

I began teaching in 2003, right at the beginning of my college studies. I taught in several after school programs in upstate New York, and organized many student recitals. I encourage daily practice, as this gives students a chance to become comfortable with the violin much more quickly, and I make listening to music a part of each students normal routine so they can strengthen their desire to learn. I have been teaching privately since 2003, and have also served as a violin coach for more advanced students. Read More

I will also take the time to explain the role of the fingers and show how it is the foundation to all the bow technique they are going to learn. Read More

In 1967, while an undergraduate at the University of Chicago, I was accepted as an advanced violin student by Elliot Golub, who was at the time a member of the Contemporary Chamber Players at the University of Chicago under Ralph Shapey, and a founder of the acclaimed Music of the Baroque series in Chicago.
