Some of my students have been as young as 8 years old while others have been as old as 43. I have taught both beginners and well seasoned students. For younger piano students and beginners, I prefer to start them out on the Faber and Faber "Piano Adventures" method series. This series tends to be inexpensive, touches on classical exerpts while teaching students proper techniques, and builds on concepts in a way that solidifies the information in a student's brain. My goal is for students to love playing their instrument so much after every lesson that they are motivated to keep working on concepts outside of their lesson time. Thus far, all of my private lesson students practice outside of their lessons, and I hope to keep it that way! I believe that all students are capable of learning music regardless of preconceived notions about talent level. I understand that people have busy schedules, but I expect them to make some time to practice outside of lessons even if it is only for 10 or 20 minutes per day. Read More

When I entered college, I started teaching middle school students privately in the Waco area and teaching general music education in Baylor's OsoMusical program for special needs children.
