My teaching method will be largely based on what you want to accomplish as a musician. My students taking the classical route will become familiar with the Suzuki Method books. I like to supplement this with etudes, folk tunes, and something of personal interest to you (pop music, world music, video game, etc.) If you are more interested in a fiddle/bluegrass approach, I will start you on the O'Connor Method books for violin/viola. I'm offering both violin and viola lessons to all ages and levels, with an open-minded personal approach tailored to each student's individual interests, needs, and goals. I have a calm and patient personality and I will do my best to make sure that the student understands what and why they are asked to do a certain thing. I believe in the importance of creating a nurturing and respectful learning environment and that developing the student's own critical thinking through asking questions and self-reflecting is essential for their success. The importance of how the teacher transfers their method is dire in helping students develop and grow. Learning that each student has their own pace at learning an instrument is also very important on both sides tof the teacher and student, so using whatever to help a student grasp how to play is key. It is also very heart-warming to find out that a student used the same methods and stategies to aid in their journey of learning an instrument just like myself. Read More

For pianists, there are so many different method books, I recommend for beginners Faber Method Series for younger beginners, for adult beginners we can start with Alfred's All in One Method for Adult Beginners. I have used Alfred's Series, Piano Adventures, John Thompson's Series, Bastien Series, Playtime Piano Series (also Faber). For more intermediate students I would use books that are a collection of different types of baroque and classical pieces, and First Lessons In Bach, and for more advanced students solos and concerti from composers such as Chopin, Beethoven, Mozart, LIszt, etc. Read More

I am a performer, & teacher. My goals are to give my students the education I received at the foot of my teachers. I see it as a mission to invite people of many backgrounds to learn and enjoy bowed stringed instruments. I attended Valdosta State University where i found myself to be the only bass student for 2 years. It was this that gave me the" grit" needed to survive in the constantly evolving music industry.
