My teaching method is based on Ivan Galamian and Dorothy Delay's teaching styles and tailoring it to the student's needs. For beginning to intermediate students, I focus my teaching on fundamental basics and techniques, tailoring the exercises and etudes based on the repertoire of each student. With more advanced students, I shift the emphasis towards music-making (color, character, pacing, phrasing), with a focus on efficient and effective combinations of sounding point, bow speeds, bow distribution and vibrato. Although I am not a certified Suzuki teacher, I do utilize the Suzuki books for beginning students. I find that they provide a good breadth of repertoire suitable for students who are new to their instruments. For more advanced students, I use standard repertoire for their instrument, making sure each piece teaches them to hone a skill while also preparing them for big auditions.
