For beginning students, I start with the Essential Elements book. If the student has already taken lessons or is in their school band/orchestra, I encourage moving onto the Rubank Elementary, Intermediate, and Advanced method books depending on ability. Once a student has proven that they are able to handle it, I will start on solo repertoire. It is important that each student progress at their own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals and expectations. Acknowledging any and all accomplishments are key to fueling the students desire to learn more. My students can expect to receive homework and practice goals after each lesson. I want to find what inspires my students so I will always tailor my instruction to their wants and desires. During each lesson, we will start with warming up through scales and stretching and then moving to our practice goals for the week, through the practice goals we can determine what next weeks lesson should look like and what the student can focus on outside of their lesson. I use Suziki Violin Method, Bastian for piano. I have also been developing my own method, and it's dependant in the students agenda. I encourage the building of reperatore early on. I have also used Liytle Einstein piano method and varies products produced by Hal Leonard. I find the students goals are very formative to the approach I choose to take. For beginners, especially children of 3, 4 and 5 years old, we do everything through play, rhythm, drawing, listening to music and correct placement of both hands on the violin and bow through various exercises. After age of 6, they are start introduce to music theory, notes, the basics of rhythm in my various ways. We learn about the violin , the settings, the way of playing,etc. My method is classical music through which you learn all the rules of music and the proper way to play the instrument. Read More
