Teaching for me really became serious in 2018. I started with teaching in my own home and did go to the houses of my students as well for a short time. I do my best to give my students a good practice regimen that they can use to practice everyday, while also providing them tips to practice the pieces that they are trying to put together on their own. I like to make learning an instrument an enjoyable experience and allow students to progress at their own pace.  I also introduce them to different styles of music such as classical, folk, Broadway musicals as well as popular songs.  In addition, I teach students new skills and techniques to enhance their playing abilities. I have enjoyed teaching violin and piano for over 25 years.  For younger students, beginning at age 4, I utilize Suzuki method which utilizes musical games that develop listening skills. As students progress, they learn note reading and develop proper violin technique through scale studies and bowing practice. For very beginning students, I usually start with the Suzuki Method Books and All For Strings Comprehensive String Method Books. I usually encourage my students to read music, but for the youngest students I start by playing with them and having them copy me. Once they are ready, I start teaching them basic music theory that will help them read music. For intermediate to advanced players I institute a routine of practicing scales and etudes as well as a solo piece that is appropriate for their ability level. Read More

I'm a young musician who has been working hard at the teaching game since I was 16. I've been playing piano for 18 years, cello for 14 years, and violin/viola/bass for 6.
