I am dedicated teacher and performer in the San Francisco Bay Area. I moved from Chicago about a year ago and am originally from Bethesda, Maryland. I started playing violin at age 5, completed the certificated program at Peabody Conservatory Preparatory in Baltimore, MD and earned my Bachelor of Music from Northwestern University. I started teaching in high school, and I've been teaching consistently for the past 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. If a student isn't having fun in their lessons, then I'm not doing my job! My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. Since graduating with my Masters in Cello Performance in 2005 from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, I have been consistently teaching. Most of my teaching for the past 13 years has been going to students' homes. I also encourage the students to participate in yearly recitals and local community engagements throughout the year.
