The tension is often a result of a constricted physical, mental and/or emotional activity, causing students to feel frustrated and disappointed, preventing them from the desired results. I believe demonstrating how to practice efficiently is equally important. In my years of teaching, I have observed that students who do not make significant progress are the ones who do not insert intelligence and judgment into their practice routines. I believe in teaching people to be true musicians and tap into their own creative spirits, not just to be technicians at the mercy of what's written for them. With that said, I take a balanced approached between learning traditional fundamentals and some of my own more philosophical approach, drawing on metaphors and analagous experiences to help frame this learning experience in ways the student can relate and understand. I have been the recipient of several scholarships and positions that demonstrate my academic and performance distinction. A singer/songwriter from New York, I graduated from Vassar College in 2020 with a degree in music, and moved to New Orleans to pursue a career in music education.
