I try to introduce my students to different styles and genres of music. Their repertoire ranges from dances and songs to variations, concertos and sonatas. In order to be able to play such an array of genres, one requires what I like to call a "laboratory of skills". I love children and also received a BA in Psychology that mostly focused upon Developmental Psychology. This aspect of my education aids in my understanding of a childs mind and helps me to be sensitive to their needs as young learners. I have been teaching private instrumental music lessons for two years now. I have gone through a four year degree program in which I've had the opportunity to gain peer teaching experience as well as teaching within various school districts for individual, small, and large ensemble settings. I have also been teaching dance at my mom's studio for the past 6 years. I enjoy working one on one, but need students to pay attention in lessons and practice as needed to advance and move forward. I started teaching in 1991 after graduating with a degree in Music History. I also gained training at that time as a Suzuki Teacher books 1 to 4. As I grew as a teacher I learned that to reach students I had to mold to their way of learning, so I now don't use one particular method.
