My teaching experience spans over 25 years and includes private instruction in piano, organ, violin, viola and composition. As an experienced classroom teacher, I have worked as an elementary/middle school teacher and 12 years teaching as an adjunct professor in several colleges and universities. The youngest student in my studio was 6 six years old, while the oldest was 83. I encourage the student to see it , believe it and achieve all goals that can be set out to be accomplished. Practice on a daily basis is very necessary when gaining the passion for the chosen instrument. My students are encouraged to enter competitions and recitals, as well as work on composing their own original material, so they can feel good about their accomplishments and stay motivated to learn. I have completed my student teaching as a string specialist at Elkridge Landing Middle School and Elkridge Elementary School in Maryland. It has been a wonderful experience, allowing me to become skilled teaching music in public school setting. I approach my teaching in a fun and friendly way, using our outlined goals to guide us through learning the instrument. I like to help my students set up their own customized practice schedule and will make notes throughout our lesson so that the student is completely clear on what they must do on their own, With every new element that I introduce, I work on it until I see understanding from the student, so I can see that they know what to work on. I began teaching lessons while workibg on my Master's degree. While tutoring a classmate on guitar, I realized that I really enjoyed teaching and decided to pursue more students. My music therapy training gives me a unique approach to education enabling me to tailor all of my students lessons to their personal goals and needs.
