I prefer using the Suzuki Method for beginners. I do, however incorporate different methodologies and “tricks of the trade” that I was taught through the years that helped me to increase confidence, poise, and technique. For example, I believe that every beginner should learn at least one scale a week in 2-3 octaves slurred. This helps to train the ear as well as increase the dexterity in shifting techniques. My teaching experience dates back to my grad school years, as I began teaching private lessons part time in 1995. Since then, I have been teaching more and more students both privately and in school setting. I have taught in Park School, The Friends School in Baltimore area, and Towson University preparatory music department, and currently I'm a faculty in McDonogh School Private Music department.
