My piano students generally start with Faber Piano Adventures. I assign them solo repertoire as they progress through each level in preparation for a recital performance. For the more advanced students, I introduce the fundamentals of playing jazz piano as well. I have my voice students sing through repertoire in the styles of their choice in order to have a better understanding of how their unique voice functions. When I lived in Florida, I taught piano and voice in American Children Orchestra for Peace .Then, I moved to New York City and began to teach in Public Schools with Afro-Latin Jazz Alliance (ALJA). My style is very interactive in not teaching the students, but demonstrating what are the proper ways to approach different praticing techniques and repertoire selections. With my vocal lessons I have students do proper warm-up techniques and various scales before we begin working on vocal selections.  Afterwards I use repetition with the repertoire in order to help the students with skills that are needed to perform any particular piece including intonation, diction, and breathing. I began teaching private lessons while I was at Carnegie Mellon University. I teach my students how to make sound and to breathe correctly. By teaching a healthy way of singing, students are less likely to damage their vocal chords later on in life. Regular practice on a consistent schedule will help the student to progress and therefore allow them to move on to more challenging music. I like to give a basis of classical music and classical voice technique which the student can then use for whichever genre they prefer to sing. Read More

Teaching requires time and effort but it also needs to be fun, therefore my lessons have both components, while setting up short and long term goals we explore music in fun ways that allows for self expression and we stay focused by having a clear goal for every lesson. We will keep a journal where we will be recording our achievements, homeworks and general progress. My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lesson when I graduated. I have been consistently involved in teaching students, both in my home studio as private instructor and as a part of the program Learning On Stage in which I perform and share different Latin-American music styles to teach students from high school and middle school.
