When it comes to teaching voice, there is no one way of doing so. Each child learns differently and each child has a different instrument, and it is most important that that be figured out first. I will generally start out with well known songs sung by ear, and then depending on the students level help them to learn to read music. My experience in both music education and special education gives me the insight into adapting lesson material to the individual student, as no two students are alike in their learning styles! I work with the needs and goals of the individual student, and incorporates a wide variety of teaching styles into my lessons. For my younger piano students, I use the Bastien piano series, and I like to use the Alfred Adult Beginner series for my beginning students that are late middle school and older. Read More
