I am a huge fan of setting goals. Not only for the performance that my student may be preparing for, but for the future, as well. During the first lesson, I like to sit down with my student and develop a plan for what they would like to achieve. Want a stronger belt? We can work on that. Want to learn how to control your breath? We can work on that. Read More

I love people and I love music. My gift is teaching, and I think about it all the time. It gives me great joy to share what I have with you. I teach all aspects of brass playing: air control, embouchure development, articulation, tone, range, and musical interpretation of all styles. I teach a complete understanding of the guitar fretboard. I incorporate music theory and an understanding of chord structure in all lessons, and for all instruments that I play and teach. Read More

For beginning piano students, I usually begin with the Alfred Prep Course, supplemented with a notespeller to help expedite learning to read music. I also begin ear training, chords, and solo repertoire as the student becomes ready. For voice students, I begin with breathing, vocal technique, and skill-level appropriate songs. For all students, regardless of instrument and experience, I aim to set goals together with them and use each lesson to advance toward the completion of those goals! Read More

In the end, it's all up to what the student wants and how we can make his or her wants a benefit to their learning process. Read More
