For the young students who are just starting out in vocal lessons I like to recommend starting with the proper breathing techniques and moving in to singing from the diaphragm and more experienced techniques will follow after that. After we have touched on those techniques we will move in to the performance portion of the lessons and how to connect with the song and then being able to portray the message of the song clearly and efficiently to the audience so that they can connect to the emotions that are coming from the song. My methods vary greatly dependent upon the needs of the student. For younger students, I start with early fundamentals (music in general, breathing, and confidence) through easy songs that are recognizable and fun to learn. As a student ages, the voice matures, so I assess a student's vocal qualities and give them appropriate rep through their voice changing. For teens and adults, I focus on finding appropriate pieces that are in line with a student's preferred genre. Read More

I have recently begun teaching within the past year, but have worked with various record-holding Metropolitan Opera stars of which I learned Voice Pedagogy, Several blues, and country artists, as well as rock singers. I encourage my students to connect with their body when singing, relax, and let their voice soar! Every genre and skill set is welcome! The one aspect of teaching I love the most is seeing other students develop a passion for it. Every students learns at their own pace, but this doesn't come without hard work.
