For all students, I begin with assignments from 24 Italian Art Songs to teach fundamental vocal technique and develop a classical sound. Depending on the student's interest, they will also be assigned musical theater pieces or art songs in varying languages as well. As a student's ability level goes up, they will be assigned more difficult repertoire as appropriate. One group in particular called: "ARCTIC THUNDER" was a group of 14 children from 8 - 14 yrs old. They performed at Walt Disney (Magic Music Days), and opened for many known recording artist. From there I take the pace at whatever the student is comfortable with occasionally pushing it a little bit if progress seems to be too slow. I individualize my instruction based on each student's musical background and goals. Each student is unique, and has his or her own unique learning style. However, for beginning piano students I tend to start with either the Bastien Piano Library, Alfred Piano Library, or Faber Piano Adventures to provide a basic groundwork and methodology.
