I especially love teaching voice. I make goals and adjust to the pace of the student. While I don't believe I am too strict a teacher, I am always trying to challenge students. Besides keeping them on track with practicing the fundamentals, I encourage students to discover how beautiful and fun music is. I think my style is more learning music itself. Since I am a singer, piano player and composer, I think I more encourage my students to use their ears and to understand harmony and theory which very is useful for playing music with any instruments. I start off lessons with a brief chat to know your goals. I want to hear your weaknesses and strengths as a performer as well as your experience level from advanced to none. Tell me about yourself! Then I go into vocal warmups and breathing exercises to find the connection between your diaphragm and your voice. I want to know what artists and styles you are drawn too and some of the songs you have sung and or want to learn. Read More

I began teaching voice and piano lessons in grad school and have been teaching for the past 5 years. I love sharing my passion for the voice as an instrument, and I feel that a strong foundation of music theory and keyboard skills is a must for vocalists. I enjoy incorporating all of these skills into lessons. I've also found that no matter what style and genre of music interests you there is a primary fundamental healthy technique as the foundation for all of them, and I find it ver exciting and thrilling to develop the skills needed to unlock this vocal freedom!
