Our music lesson students will have the opportunity to take lessons from the comfort of their own home or in one of the teachers studios. Careful attention is placed on each student to ensure a custom lesson plan. Much of my training techniques come from my experience with Voice Teacher, Dr. Joseph Collins (PhD, Vocal Pedagogy), whom I studied with while living in Nashville. Dr. Collins made clear to me many secrets to developing proper vocal execution and placement that had been a mystery before. I gained much more awareness and understanding of my own voice. I have been teaching Music 1922 at Northeast Community College in organ and piano since Fall Semester 2016. I enjoy beginners as there are no bad habits to break! I have coached singers who have gone on to Peabody, Choral conducting degrees and professional engagements on cruise ships and Broadway (Manoel Felciano who was a choir member for four years while a Yale undergrad). I emohasize sharing goals with parents: in the past 48 hours I said to my new neighbors whose children study piano, that even if they switch later to another instrument, a good foundation in reading treble and bass cleff and reading notation will be in place. My teaching experience goes back to my high school days. After I learned how to play guitar and played in a few bands, I knew that persuading a career in music was my passion. I taught a few students at my home and after high school attended Southern Union where I graduated with an associate in arts degree. At the beginning of my experience with each student, I assess what the goals are for each student/their family, in the musical learning process. I base my teaching on that, within the framework of standard music teaching practices. Throughout the process of the student's learning, I periodically assess, not only the student's progress, but also the student's satisfaction with their learning process.
