I started teaching privately when I was in high school. I taught just a couple of kids and found it fun. I was a little busy to teach in college as I was concentrating on learning to be a professional saxophonist. My teachers include Doug Heath, Bob Seligson, Terry Autry, and Todd Goranson. I was able to learn at a relatively high level in school and continued that through grad school. Read More

For beginners, I will start lessons by assisting them to become familiar with their instrument and to learn all the names of the various parts of the instrument. All lessons will be catered to what it is that the student is excited to explore, be it music theory, instrumental techniques, improvisation, composition, arrangement, ear training, transcription, reading, playing in a group setting, or just learning a favorite song. Whether it’s to increase your confidence at karaoke night or to prepare for your first on stage performance, I’m very interested in helping you improve your singing. Ever been told that you’re “a little pitchy”, or that you “just need to give it more support?” Tips like these often leave people frustrated because they don’t actually give anyone a plan for improvement. In my lessons we will focus on specific issues, and make sure you have a great plan for clear, noticeable improvement of your singing abilities. Read More

I worked with younger students in my program who couldn't afford the rates of the professional instructors in the area, so I taught for free to members of our lowest ensemble. I found that I enjoyed teaching and I soon set course for my degree in music education. I continued teaching while at college to student ages 10 - 31. Read More

I have been teaching music lessons as a music therapist since 2007 and have much experience with adapted lessons for students with developmental disabilities and other limitations. I started teaching typical lessons in addition to adapted lessons in 2013 and it has been an added joy for me. I love teaching basic music lessons and music theory to children developing strong musical roots. I encourage a regular practice schedule for all of my students to help develop strong habits and engraving music in each of their lives. Read More
