I have been a performing and teaching professional for over 25 years and released over 20 albums with many different artists. Since I was in my early twenties, I have performed throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and Central America. I bring my experience to the lesson room through a thorough and varied approach to harmony, technique, sight-reading, improvisation and performance techniques. Teaching - Piano/keys 4 students. Drum for 2 students (one student was blind).   Performance - accompanying choirs and church (acoustic piano), marching band (trumpet and percussion), worship bands (acoustic drum set and synth), and orchestra (timpani and bells). I taught myself the trumpet and achieved first chair within the first 6 months of playing (our marching band performed in Canada to California besides many places in Washington). Since everyone is unique and works at their own pace, I don't think it's fair to approach every student the same way. I almost always use Alfred's Basic Piano Library for kids n adults, the same series for young beginners for younger kids. Time to time i use piano Adventure series by Faber n Faber. I focus on flash cards n sight reading books besides the main lesson book since a lot of students do not read well n try to memorize their pieces by ear. I believe strongly that students can't go so far without being able to read properly. Read More

When I teach teenagers or adults I usually start with Alred’s Basic Adult Piano Course Book, as well as a music theory book that is suited to the student. I like Alfred’s series for the young beginner as well, but have also used the Bastien series. For voice students I use a warm up book and a sight singing book. My students keep a music notebook of the week’s assignments in which I also make music theory notes and explanations. Read More
