Each lesson is individualized. No lesson is ever just door to door singing. Sometimes we have to talk about the repertoire, talk about the text and grow from each. That does not always mean that you are singing for every minute of the lesson. The student I am there as a guide and allow the students creativity to take us on the journey. I believe...I live.. with an ideology of a truly holistic approach to teaching and singing. Read More

For beginning students I start with breathing. I ask the student if there's anything they're interested in learning and by the third lesson have chosen something for them to sing. In an hour long lesson there is typically a half hour warm up to introduce new concepts and reinforce old ones. The second half is spent working on music and utilizing the concepts we have just discussed. Read More

For beginners I will start with a reputable system of books, such as Hal Leonard or Alfred's, supplemented by my own worksheets and song selections that are relevant to the student. For more advanced students I will use my own open method, finding songs that the student is eager to play and reinforcing the theory and techniques that will enable the student to advance quickly. The two rules I follow for teaching any student is that 1: Everyone goes at their own pace, and 2: Everyone learns differently. That goes for all my students, regardless of instrument. If a student is having trouble grasping what Im saying/demonstrating, well keep going over it until they understand. Maybe a topic has to be approached differently for someone; I can do that. Other students will pick things up more quickly, and we can skip ahead to more challenging parts of the books or pick harder songs to sing or play. Read More

My certification is as an Indie Artist from Musicians Institute in Los Angeles. I specialize in teaching songwriting, and creative playing. I've been playing solo since 2008, and have since started learning drums, bass, as well as the recording process. I know that my lessons will provide value, and hopefully inspiration as well.
