Instruments: Voice Drums
I am full of energy and love learning as much as I can, but I also understand that full and in depth skill requires time and a certain level of patience and consistency. I relay this to students by repetition (specifically of principles), though I keep it fun and exciting by varying the application. Once the principle is fully grasped, we move on. I also give light, yet fun x22homeworkx22 assignments to keep the student engaged and thinking about music outside of the lesson. Read More

I love to see my students reach musical maturity. Therefore, even, a beginner will sound musical after just a few lessons. I always remind them to push forward to higher levels. I always advise them that practise is the key and the more they practice the faster they advance. Classes consist of warming up exercises, then the student works on the music assigned and the Instructor gives it a grade. Read More
Instruments: Voice Violin Viola Fiddle
I usually begin with the Suzuki method for both children and adults, and once the student has a good command of fundamental violin technique, we progress in the style of the student's primary interest. I am very open to teaching a variety of styles, and can put together a detailed lesson plan for any direction the student may choose. In the event that the student is primarily focused on areas other than the classical repertoire, I definitely begin with Mark O'Connor's violin method that is specifically designed for students interested in traditional folk and fiddle music. Instruments: Guitar Voice
I have designed curriculums that work in phases according to the skill level of the student. In the beginning stages the curriculum is designed primarily based around the music theory required for playing the instrument at a high level. The lessons bounce back and forth between theory introduction and theory application. This continues throughout the beginning lessons, going from method to method accordingly. In the later stages I teach the student techniques and methods to improve form, speed, and overall functionality. Read More

I have over twenty years experience teaching music students of all ages. I started teaching music students in 1986 at a Jr. High/High School and prepared all choral students for both solo and ensemble festivals and large group competitions. I also prepared vocal jazz ensembles, and other larger instrumental and vocal ensembles for competition, thoroughly enjoying the sharing of their talents and pulling out the best music they had to offer. My teaching styles are ever-changing but first and foremost I strive to meet the student where they are at in their musical journey, work in small chunks and learn to love the act of learning. Timing, technique, tuning, dynamics, timbre, music theory, writing, recording, listening improvisation (and more) are all crucial to being a modern musician but the most important of these is fun. If you aren't enjoying my teaching then I am not doing my job correctly. Read More

When did you decide to become a professional musician? Was it a gradual decision or was there a defining moment for you?
What's more fun then playing music and perfoming with friends or family! After I did a couple of gigs and thought, All this fun and we get paid too! I was hooked!
Does music run in your family? Tell us a little about your musical family members.
Yes my Father won a song writing contest put on by Eddy Arnold in the 50's. Eddy arnold recorded his song and my father performed the song on Eddy Arnolds sindicated Radio show.
If you play more than one instrument, how did you decide to start playing the second? (Or 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc)!
Easy question......We had too many guitar players and we needed a bass player so i stepped up to the plate. Easy question......We had too many guitar players and we needed a bass player so i stepped up to the plate.
What is your favorite style/genre of music to play and why?
Blues, Jazz, Latin, Rock, in no particular order. Blues, Jazz, Latin, Rock, in no particular order. Blues, Jazz, Latin, Rock, in no particular order. Blues, Jazz, Latin, Rock, in no particular order.
What is your dream piece to perform and why?
I Love "Weather Report"... anything from the Heavy Weather Album. I Love Miles Davis, just about anything from that album. Johnny Winter was my introduction to Blues...I like a lot of his tunes so it would be difficult to narrow down to one tune. I have a very broad pallet!
If you weren't a musician what do you think you'd be doing instead?
I've never given that any thought. I've never given that any thought. I've never given that any thought. I've never given that any thought. I've never given that any thought.
If you have a Music Degree, what is it in (Performance, Education, Musicology, Theory, Composition, etc) and why did you choose that degree?
I took all the music classes and didnt finish the academics. I would not recommend this to anyone, but it is the path i chose. My Applied Major was Voice, but my interest was far more diverse... I had a real interest in Music teory and understanding all I could about that subject. I went so far as to go to another college and take all the music classes from that as well..... its better to get a degree!
Do you use specific teaching methods or books? (Ex: Alfred, Bastion, Suzuki, Hal Leonard) Why did you choose them if you did?
Any Beginner Method book will work... I tend to use Hal Leonard, because that is what is available. I use my teachers book Complete Jazz Guitar Method by Vincent Bredice, published by Mel Bay
What do you think is the hardest thing to master on your instrument?
Chord Melody guitar playing. All elements of guitar are hard until you have accomplished all the essentials. Practicing all arppegios, chords scales in every postion on the guitar is verychallenging. Soloing is also difficult.
What does a normal practice session look like for you?
This will depend on what the outcome is. Specifically i spend time working through tunes for a particular artist. I may or may not write charts depending on how complicated and how much time i have to devout to it.
Have any of your students won awards or been selected for special honors? How have they succeeded?
I have a student that was a professor at a University, One that Plays with a Famous Coutry artist, and another who has his on guitar method, website and a fantastic musician!
What musical accomplishments are you most proud of?
Playing in a Band that is a top ten Billboard Blues Charts Ensemble! Playing with some of the best drummers in the world right in South Florida.
Why did you choose your primary instrument?
This is a hard question. I have several primary instruments... I enjoy the challege of Playing bass and singing, the challenge of soloing on guitar and love them equally.
Did you have a teacher that inspired you to go into music? How did they inspire you?
I have had many teachers inspire me, not only just teachers but also musicians of many different instruments, vovalists, Guitarists, Bass players, sax players, drummers....
Vencent Bredice taught me how to learn as well as how to teach.
How do I know if my child is ready to start lessons?
They must be ready to spend a minimum of 30 minutes a day practicing. if they can sit and take a 30 minute lesson then they can take lessons.
When will I start to see results?
Every student is different and learn at a different pace... I would say 6 weeks would be an average time frame to see results if they practice dilligently.
What advice do you have about practicing effectively?
Don't spend too much time on one area. keep intense focus for 5-10 minutes and move onto another area.
example: 1. Practice the Melody for 10 minutes
2. Practice chords for 10 min
3. Practice arpeggios for 10 min...etc...
