It is very rewarding to see my students develop a passion for music and excel at their craft. Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, i can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

Since I fully understand the importance of practicing and studying, I always do my best to keep my students engaged and motivated by rewarding their efforts, by pushing them towards higher standards, and by challenging their talent, interests and abilities. I take the time to get to know my students beyond their musical studies and I try to incorporate other areas of their lives in our music lessons in order to create meaningful contexts that apply to the uniqueness of each student. I firmly believe that nurturing passion for music and the drums is the ultimate goal of any private instructor. As such, I prioritize student agency to make their own musical journey. My role is to make this journey as smooth and efficient as possible by providing the appropriate materials and guidance. Though I always provide plenty of materials to enrich a student in between lessons, I don't enforce a particular practice schedule, nor do I ever scold students for meeting any "standard". Read More

I have been singing since the tender age of three! I have loved singing and performing since then. This love has propelled me into the classrooms where I honed my craft. I also learned the discipline of practicing on other instruments as I went through high school at Emerson School for the Visual and Performing Arts. I graduated with honors as a vocal major. I later attended Wabash College and graduated as the only music major in the class of 2003. Read More

I have been really fortunate to network in the music scene to meet so many different people that have welcomed me into a myriad of musical projects with widely differing styles. I've been very active as a working musician, playing small bars, large clubs, festivals, private and corporate events, wedding, and even VIP section shows at large venues with national acts. The expansive diversification of experience at different levels has thoroughly prepared my to know how to survive as a working musician and I passionately pass on this gained knowledge and experience with my lessons. Teaching is a journey for me and the student. I realy enjoy seeing the progress of each student becoming who they have imagined they could be. I've been teaching a long long time. My students know that we will have fun and meet the challenges that get them to each new level of playing and understanding drums, music and everything connected to it. I've toured with National acts as well as my own bands. Read More

For beginners, I typically start with Stick Control: For the Snare Drummer by George Lawrence Stone, and The Drumset Musician by Rod Morganstein. Once the student has grasped the fundamentals, I sculpt the lesson plan depending on the style(s) the student would like to learn, from Rock and Funk to Jazz, Latin and more. For intermediate to advanced students, I try to figure out what goals the student would like to achieve, and then plan a lesson that will help the student achieve those goals. Read More
