I see music as my life, and I can't live without it! Throughout my career as a music student, I have taught music/piano lessons to kids who are disposed with ADHD as well as Down-Syndrome; I had good amount of experience working with kids, and was able to spark their inner musical self throughout being their teacher. I also have experience working with advanced, pre-conservatory students who wish to prepare for college music auditions or other musical endeavors. Read More
Instruments: Flute Recorder
I taught classical flute and recorder in the Austrian school system and music schools for 15 years. Later, I was the band director and music teacher for the grades 4-12 grades in the Syracuse City Schools. I conducted a concert band, jazz band and had over 70 students in my band programs. Keyboards class, music history and general music were also a part of my teaching experience. My students have participated NYSSMA solo competitions, All-City Band, All- County band and All-State Bands. Read More

I try to motivate students to practice at their own pace. Within a few lessons the student is working on playing some familiar songs. Letting them know that we can start to work on material they prefer is how I get them to work on necessary technique. Many of my students have been accepted into music schools and/or are performing regularly. Read More

It is not necessary, however, to learn chords or grooves specifically from a book for these instruments. Depending on the desired style, there may not be much use of notated music, guitar tabliture, etc. But as already stated, this does not excuse a good foundation in reading music and understanding music theory. For more advanced players (who would most likely be percussionists if working with me, though I am willing to work with any instrument at a more advanced level), we would work out of books I and the student(s) find fitting for their skill level. I will be taking students of all ages; young or mature. Unless the student is a very beginner, I essentially go about teaching in the same method with each individual. I WILL TEACH THE STUDENT WHATEVER THEY WANT TO LEARN. Thats right. I've found that learning music is more fun for the student when you get to play what you already know, are comfortable with, or want to learn. It works like this: if the student wants to learn a guitar solo, I will show them the fundamentals of what it takes to understand it, break it down, and execute it. Read More

While teaching, I create a very friendly and welcome environment. Comfort between the student and teacher is critical in order to progress with technique and repertoire. I open the floor to questions, concerns and truly want to hear what the students perspectives are. With beginner students, the primary focus is on breath management, developing flexibility between ranges, and applying technique to repertoire. For more advanced singers, I am able to help prepare for auditions or performances and focus more on the quality and control of the voice. Read More
