I'm a passionate and professional cello instructor who loves working with students. I just moved to New York area due to my husband's job. I'm receiving my Doctoral of Musical Arts Degree from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in this coming May 2020. I work with the student to learn what they are interested in learning. All my students learn to read traditional notation as well as tablature. I like method books like Hal Leonard , especially for the complete beginner - but  I supplement with other repertoire I have found throughout the years. I'm very nice and patient with students, but I'm also very sink-or-swim. For example, if a student is trying to play a melody they know, I won't simply write it out for them and have them recite it: I'll push them to figure it out themselves and develop their ear.
