For beginning piano students, I start them with a variety of materials, beginning with John Thompson's piano books, along with stanzas of finger exercises to develop dexterity. But more importantly for me, is that I understand that people, especially now, want to start playing songs as soon as possible. So, I immediately teach them chords and scales. I don't believe in a "one size fits all" approach to students where they all play the same exercises, etudes, etc. I help students find what works for them, often times we create our own methods or modify existing ones to suit the needs of the pupil. I am a singer who loves working with students of all ages and sharing my love of music. In 2002, I graduated from Musik-Akademie Basel, Switzerland with a Bachelor of Arts degree in vocal Jazz Performance and piano. I have performed with bands in Europe, South America and the US. I self produced, written and recorded two albums where I bring my jazz and south American influences.
