Upon graduating from Skidmore College in 2000, I was accepted to Florida State University to the classical guitar program under the study of Bruce Holzman. I feel my decision to simultaneously work towards two masters degrees speaks clearly for my motivation and passion towards music. I tend to incline towards George Molineux's premise of imagery and teaching. Constructing my own philosophy of music teaching. For children I tend to start with posture, positioning of the hands, rounded fingers and finger notation. I understand that Molineux's teaching methods are of the 19th centurybut they are still relevant today in how we perceive music. My start as a full-time multimedia teacher was with a company called Rivoli Music. I had taught 25-30 Japanese women... It got tight in places (language) but it was mostly pleasure having the students' Photoshop, Flash, then make FLV video with original soundtracks. I encourage the student to learn at their own pace as well as giving the student the opportunity to advance into new territory not keeping the student static in one level for too long. Each piece I select especially for the beginner is one which involves the easiest execution of playing the piece through fingering, etc. I often encourage the piano student even when mistakes are made letting the student know that through mistakes made in playing piano offers the opportunity through practice to achieve less and less mistakes resulting in the correct execution of the piece.
