It's remarkable to witness how these small victories fuel a student's eagerness to delve deeper into their musical exploration. Understanding what sparks a student's interest is key to crafting personalized instruction that resonates with them. By delving into their inspirations and aspirations, I can tailor my teaching approach to align with their unique wants and needs. Whether it's a favorite artist, a particular style of music, or a desire to master a specific technique, I strive to create a learning environment that fosters their passion and cultivates their potential. I am a lifelong lover of music and am passionate about the art of performance. In 2019, I graduated from Elon University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a focus on voice, studying both performing and pedagogy. My background in voice includes musical theatre, classical and pop/rock vocal styles. I have been music directing for a cappella groups and musical productions for the past four years, working with both amateurs and aspiring professionals. Read More

I think that students learn best when they are relaxed and having fun. So, anything I can do to keep it light - whether it's drawing a picture to make a point or making up silly words to learn a complex rhythm or using crayons to mark the sections in our music - is a win in my book! Laughing and making mistakes are a big part of learning. When my students make errors, I don't scold, I say "good for you, now we can learn something!" I believe that it is both possible and critical to develop the student-teacher relationship as a collaboration. Read More

Ever since I can remember, I've been singing and learning everything I can about music. I studied composition at Haverford College, where I led a number of vocal ensembles and music directed several musical theater productions. While at Haverford, I toured colleges on the East Coast with my male-voiced a cappella group, and I also toured both Mexico and Germany with the Chamber singers of Haverford and Bryn Mawr Colleges. For Beginners who are just learning how to read music, I usually start off with Faber's method, there is a version for adults as well as children. This seems to progress at a very suitable speed, comfortable yet still challenging, and has proved to be quite effective in getting basics down. Once my students have become familiar with the fundamentals in these books, I move them on to repertoire according to their individual goals or needs. Read More

I teach a relaxed, free style. I want my students to feel comfortable to move around the room. Our work in the studio is experimental. I am happy with whatever progress we make each week, as long as there is some progression. I particularly emphasize this point with my youngest voice students. All progression is a victory. I am passionate about what I teach because music teaches you a lot about yourself. Read More
