I create my own lesson plans based off of the individual student. For voice students, we usually warm up, do technical exercises working on varying registers and techniques, and then work on repertoire. I often find the passages in a particular song that the student is struggling with and focus in on those, finding exercises to guide the student. I have always enjoyed teaching private lessons because it allows me to tailor the lesson to the individual students needs. This is not always possible in a classroom situation. I am patient with my students but I expect my students to practice four to five days a week. My goal is to get the students to enjoy the process of learning new music. I realize that my students will not take piano lessons forever so my hope is to get them to enjoy the process of learning new things in general. Read More

I like to combine Technique and Theory with hands on application into songs. I start by doing an analysis of the level of theory and the proficiency of playing of the student. Then, I create a path of Theory = Practical learning to do. In theory, we analyze how music works before we touch the instrument. Then, we go on to learn technique on the instrument and learn song adapted to the students taste of music In this part, we also apply our theory knowledge onto what we play. Read More
