For intermediate or advanced players, I'll typically start with what they're currently working on and maybe recommend other material if I think there's something else that would be a better fit. It is rewarding for me to see students develop their passion for music. And, it's important that each student progress at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. I also try to acknowledge accomplishments to fuel a students desire to progress, which gives students incentives to learn more. I'm a recent graduate of Syracuse University, with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Industry. I have played both the violin and piano since the age of four. In my experience of teaching I realized that students are different from each other some learn faster than others. If students don't understand a key or a chord I will show them an example by playing a specific chord or song piece.
