My teaching experience is very fresh as I only have tutored freshmen in beginner trombone and music theory. I believe if I can teach college music majors trombone I can teach just about anybody. My personal trombone experience is that in high school I studied jazz and learned jazz trombone methods. However, in college I studied mostly classical playing and that would be strongest curriculum. I've also studied piano and found that accompanying a student or at least learning the theory of a song can go a long way in a lesson. Read More

With this in mind, each person's lesson is subjective and progresses according to the student's learning style; a beginning 5 yr old student's lesson will look much different that a beginning 14 yr old student's lesson. Lessons are tailored to each individual. My teaching methods include a warm-up routine, scales, and etudes or songs from various method books, depending on the skill level of the student. Standard repertoire in classical and jazz studies is also covered. Sight-reading, improvisation, and ear-training are also a part of most lessons.  I have taught in a variety of musical settings with a wide range of students and abilities. I have taught independently as well as for organizations such as the Youth Orchestra of Central NJ. In 2012 I worked for Camp Encore Coda where I taught trumpet lessons, directed the Symphonic Band, coached jazz combos, and taught music theory/musicianship class.  My experience working as full time music faculty for Camp Encore Coda sparked my graduate research on overnight summer music camp, which has since been presented at three major professional conferences in the music education field at the state, national, and international level.  Read More
