For beginning students I do follow the Suzuki Method to an extent, where they learn the main parts of the instrument and bow, how to hold it to prevent as much tension as possible, and some general ear training exercises to help with learning pieces. This is of most importance since it is difficult to change posture later on and bad posture can affect not only the quality of musical performance, but the health of the student as well. For beginner piano students I use Alfred's books, which has different beginner levels for different ages. At first I perform my first lesson, where I decide which beginner book will much with the student, then I recommend an appropriate book for them. I also don't mind at all another company of books if they prefer so. For beginner violin students I recommend String builder or Essential elements books. They both are good skill building books. My goal for lessons is not just progress. I would like to let students know how to enjoy music and the way music works. I have teaching experience in Korea and the U.S with kids age between 6 to 15. Young musicians have hard time to focus in a long period of time and practicing their own.
