I am a caring and compassionate vocal music teacher and I teach to intermediate level piano and theory as well. I believe music is for everybody and should be explored. I particularly focus on vocal health in my lessons. I have sung in a local opera company as well as in countless weddings and funerals. I began teaching music in high school, a friend coworker had a son that wanted to learn trumpet and it was a fun way to make money. As I continued into college, I learned that I was able to give lessons to members of the band or choir as an employee to the Adrian College Academic Services Department and I was happy to do so. About 10 years a go, I began teaching on the side. I now have 30+ students. Some come to my home and some at a studio in St. Clair Shores. My goal is to get my singers performing as much a s possible. We have a standing performance at a local coffee house every month as well as an annual recital. I always remind my students the importance of growing as a musician using your unique perception of music. That is what makes every student special. In addition, I combine, not just different music styles, but also, different types of art to create a well-rounded view of the performance. You cannot have one without the other and even when I am teaching proper technique I work to make sure the student is being their most natural self, physically, mentally and musically. Music making and teaching has been my passion since I was young. In 2020, I graduated from the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor with a Bachelor of Music in Choral Music Education. As a child, I participated in choir for 8 years and was in the University of Michigan's University Choir and Orpheus Singers. I began taking private voice lessons at a late age (17 years old) and became a professional musician, so I know that it is possible to be successful even when starting later in life! Read More

For beginning students I always begin with a methods book, I believe that good fundamentals are what makes a good musician, but I also teach ear training methods thereby giving the student the best in both worlds. Once the fundamentals and foundation are efficient, then according to the instrument I move to solo repertoire or experimentation or interpretation.
