Once the student can get the basics down I start with basic rock and pop tunes, or whatever music the student happens to be interested in. At age 23 I began teaching music courses at Istanbul Bilgi University, in Turkey. After leaving Turkey in 2001, I have focused on private lessons, teaching students of all ages and ability levels. While in high school, I was taught through intimidation and was scared into learning, which is something I was able to handle. This methods can actually turn students away from music which is the main reason dislike approach. Students should be comfortable and relaxed when entering a lesson. Phase 4: Intermediate Riffs and Techniques This is an extension of Phase 2 but expands on the difficulty and span of the riffs. At this point, the student will have very quick and strong hands and will be able to play difficult songs. We also will dive into the "why" here.
