I begain teaching as a band assistant in college. I would lead sectionals and work with students who where struggiling one on one. As I gained experiance my role and responsibly grew and I began to run rehearsals and plan for concerts. One aspect of lessons that I emphasise is musicality. I´ll give you the tools to advance at your own rhythm, making consistence progress, exploring the music you like. We will practice long note exercises to develop sound and pitch, play scales in many different ways and connect them in different chord progressions, play tunes at your level capacity, transcribe, analyze and play solos of the masters (Parker, Coltrane, etc.), and create your own solos and language. I teach all styles of music. I begin teaching from piano books published by Alfred. I also have the student learn their scales as well as give a weekly written music theory assignment. I incorporate styles and songs the student enjoys listening to or playing as well. I like to teach classical music. My teaching experience goes back to 1985 when I got my Masters of Music in Performance and Literature at the Eastman School of Music. As soon as I got back to California I started teaching privately. I have also been on the faculty of the Notre Dame college in Belmont, Santa Clara University and the Community School of Music and Arts in Mountain View.
