My passion for sharing knowledge begin during my time as high school tuba section leader, which led to Senior band president. Assisting my peers so we could sound better via musical corrections, this would build our confidence levels and the moral throughout the ensemble. I furthered my passion for music at Berklee College of Music, where I studied various aspects, methods, and approaches to educating someone about the art of music. Read More

Once again, my overall goal is to develop a personal artistic voice for each student. My teaching style is flexible to style and type of music that the student wants to play, and I facilitate their growth in that specific genre of music. I also like to expose my students to types of music they would have never thought possible to play on their instruments. In culmination of all these efforts, I always try to run a recital where my students play whatever they want at the skill level they currently possess. Read More

I am a sensitive and determined instructor and I love teaching music and sharing its beauty. I am currently completing my studies at Kennesaw State University where I will be obtaining a degree in Saxophone Performance. While attending Kennesaw I have had copious teaching and performing opportunities. Prior to beginning my studies at Kennesaw I attended Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC), where I had the opportunity to play lead saxophone in all of the schools music ensembles. Read More

Ever since high school, I have enjoyed teaching other students. In college, I would travel to nearby schools to tutor middle and high school instrumental students. My first job out of college was teaching at a charter school where I saw all the students in the school for 9 week periods. We established an after school band where private lessons were the main form of growth. In my next job, I taught students from beginning, in sixth grade, through their senior year of high school. Music is like learning a new language. Its a completely different concept. For beginning children repetion is the key. Children love repetion so Suzuki is perfect. Dr. Suzuki's idea is the mother and child learn the instrument at the same time so that the child can hear the tunes and can play it on the violin. Its the same idea that the suzuki method comes with a CD that the child can listen to. Read More

I encourage the individual to find what they love about what they're doing to spark growth and personal development. I use real world scenarios and applications for my students to relate and apply their learning through the playing of their instrument. From my pedagogical teachings ive learned that the best approach is a differentiated one. One that is diverse yet unique to the learner and/ or group of learners. I use a linguistic and analytical yet methodological approach to teaching that I find to be VERY Efficient! Read More

I would describe my teaching style as fun and goal oriented. I want my students to love music! It's obviously important that each student progresses in their playing as well as their understanding of music. A method I use is knows as PSP (Praise, Suggest, Praise). I like to acknowledge accomplishments to promote a positive environment. Part of what I like to do is find out what makes a student want to play music. Read More
