Hello! I'm a Drummer and Percussionist who loves to share the gift of rhythm and music with others. In 2010 I attended Santa Monica College where I was a member of the SMC Orchestra and Percussion Ensemble. I continued my studies on my own via private instructors and mentors from orchestral, pop, and world music backgrounds. Professionally I have performed with drum ensembles such as Street Drum Corps and the NYC broadway show STOMP. Read More

Seeing my students excited about music drives my passion for teaching! As I structure my curriculum for each student, I like to incorporate things like active listening and history into lessons so that it's never just going through the motions and doing monotonous exercises. Often introducing an artist or moment that was crucial in music history sparks creativity and motivation in students when they might not have been introduced to it earlier. Read More

I began teaching at Humboldt State University in 2010, through an education program for children ages 6-15. During the year and a half I worked there, I discovered a genuine love for sharing the passion and enthusiasm I had for music with my students. After 2 1/2 more year of leading student ensembles, teaching children and adults individually and in groups, and giving private lessons out of my home, I have amassed enough experience to feel confident teaching any student passionate about learning. My teaching experience is minimal at this point in my career as I have just graduated music school and am now making a shift into the world of teaching drums. During my days in college I volunteered with a music program called SLAM! to teach music to students at TS King Middle School in Silver Lake, CA. I feel as an instructor I really gained a grasp for teaching through the SLAM! program, I also learned that I am very comfortable teaching students of all ages. Read More

My methods are the ones that works more for the student. For some reason some methods work better with certain people. One method can be tedious for a student and easy and fun for another. Hal Leonard's can be a good tool. I can use to many different books. Also I can write down specific exercises special for the student. Some times a student can learn faster without a book. Read More

I enjoy being creative and utilizing new ideas and approaches to improve the learning environment for my students. I have incorporated a variety of hands on activities, fun assignments and learning projects to inspire and motivate my students. This includes the integration of current recording and electronic instrument technology throughout the curriculum. I am passionate about empowering and inspiring students while helping them to develop their full potential. Part of this process includes close interaction with parents to encourage participation and reinforce learning in the home while building the child's self esteem and confidence. Read More

Legend has it that Mozart's father (his teacher) would not let young Amadeus practice the piano unless he was there to supervise. This assured that young Mozart would always get the guidance and training he needed to master his instrument as fast as possible. That is how I view my job. Obviously, I can't be with you every time you sit at the drums, but I will be your coach and guide to consistently help you learn to reach your goals on the drum set efficiently and effectively.
