My teaching experience goes back to my high school days, where I began to teach private lessons part time ten years ago. Since then, I have been consistently been teaching students in private studios. I encourage regular practice on a consistent schedule and motivate my students on a daily basis. I also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoying playing instruments. Read More

My teaching approach begins by meeting the students where they are in regards to musical capability. We soon push the boundaries of what they think they are capable of and allows them to apply the music theory in real time. A consistent schedule, whether it be during our schedule lesson or a follow up email packet, is the distinctive difference in my lesson plans. This practice regimen should continue long after our scheduled lessons and should be one of many vital keys to your child's future successes. Read More

I love seeing students realize their own progress. I always like to start with recording a first attempt and then recording it again once it has been mastered so they can see their progress. I focus on positive reinforcement teaching. It is very easy, especially for a new student, to get bogged down in not making progress fast enough so I like to make sure they see all the steps they're taking and also know where it will lead them. The most important thing when learning a new instrument is having fun! That is the goal in all of my lessons. This is why after a review of what we learned in the previous lesson, I always introduce something new! Every week you will have something new to practice, whether it is based on the previous week's material or a completely new concept. It is important to practice everything you learn in order to develop muscle memory. Read More

Reading is my main way of getting things into perspective. I originally learned by ear, it paid off for live situation but, reading is where I found the most connection. Once that is accomplished the ear and the mind will be in tune. I also do enjoy listening to the student for their wants and needs. Read More

My methods to teaching beginners piano is very logical in that it the fundamentals I teach build upon each other. You can think of if like a pyramid. On the bottom of the pyramid we start with the notes of the piano. By the end of lesson one it is my goal for the student to know the name of every single note on the 88-key piano/keyboard. It's easier than it sounds and the students will find out that they can retain and learn more in one lesson than what they thought they could. Read More

Ive taught students from ages 4 45. I am patient with my students, and realize that every student is different and every student learns in a different way. As a result, I have created several different methods and variations off of my core lesson plan to cater toward the individual. Read More
