My love and passion for teaching began when I was a teenager. As I mentioned, it was initially a way of earning extra spending money that led to a career. With so many years of teaching experience, I have developed a teaching method that is fun and proven to work. I have worked with students of all ages and ability levels, from children to adults, beginners to advance. I tailor the lessons to fit the students goals. Read More

I started teaching since coming to miami in the year 2002. This is where I discovered that teaching can be a powerful way to help others improve and cause a positive impact. Little ones develop brain interconnectivity like no other discipline does (not even math!). Teens use it as a way to express themselves in a very healthy and powerful way. Adults have a very good hobby for the rest of their life, or a side business. Read More

For children and other beginners, I would start our lessons by encoding the basic function of music theory application of a drum pad. This will allow stick control and muscle memory to begin developing. As the beginner becomes more of a novice, I will introduce simple and repetitive songs and go over them as whole pieces. Those who are experienced in percussion, I will have them show me all of the rudiments they know, any complete pieces they have memorized, and have 5 minutes of improvisation. Read More

For me nothing is more rewarding than seeing a student smile while they are playing their instrument. Therefore it is important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I do this by setting goals for the current lesson as well as goals for their next lesson. I believe that acknowledging the students accomplishments only makes the students want to progress further on their instrument. My number one rule when doing anything is have fun and I teach with the mind set that my students will have fun playing their instruments. Read More
