I began my relationship with much when I starting playing drums at age 7. I played in percussion in school bands for a few years then I found the drum set. I found discipline and independence through the drum set, and soon started learning guitar and piano. I attended Berklee College of Music for Contemporary Writing & Production, with a focus in Drumset performance. While at Berklee, I played drumset/percussion in musical theater productions for other Boston colleges (Boston Conservatory, Emerson) and played with local bands in the Boston area. Read More

I've learned through experience that being too strict can contribute to a student loosing interest in practicing, so my teaching style is in the sweet spot. I push my students to always improve but I still remain patient and adaptable to different student situations. At 14, Will had his first paying professional gig playing a production of Little Shop of Horrors in SE Michigan, where a community theater scene provided work and experience leading up to studying at the LA Music Academy in 2007. Will spent the next several years in Austin, TX and Los Angeles, CA working as a drummer playing many styles of music including top 40, jazz, funk, rock roll, country, etc. It's this real world playing experience that Will utilizes in teaching and passing on knowledge as well preparing students for a potential career as a musician. For beginning students we usually start with sitting at 2 drum sets and learning to hold the sticks. It's then about trying to get the sticks to strike the drum and practice getting a nice sound on the instrument. Even at a young age, it's important to help the students to think about tone and how we are creating sound on these instruments. I use the same technique on the vibes, learning to hold 2 or 4 mallets and just creating simple sounds. Read More
