I am a passionate and motivated performer and instructor who loves working with students and sharing the joy that music can bring. In 2018, I graduated with a Bachelor of Music Degree in Flute Performance from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, where I studied with Kathryn Lukas. I have had many years of experience playing in different kinds of ensembles, including solo, chamber, band, and orchestra. In essence, my love of teaching stems from my Mom's love of teaching. She sincerely desired to teach my siblings and myself to pursue our highest dreams. It turned out that I did succeed as a star performer in music, on stages around the world. But also, when I decided to settle down, I added education to my 10-year plan. I began teaching flute 10 years ago and successfully ran a private flute studio out of my home, which incldued students of all ages, skill levels and backgrounds. I encourage regular practice, instrument maintenance, and practice journaling for my beginning students, which helps to promote progress and enjoyment of music making. I do not demand perfection from my students, but I do expect students to put in the effort to learn. I've taught private lessons to students of all ages for the last 10+ years. Additionally, I have taught at the middle school and high school levels. I've taught instrumental, vocal, and general music. I enjoy watching students progress in their studies. Most importantly, I enjoy watching students reflect upon their growth musically.
