I continued my flute studio and became a band director in 2000 and taught band in North and South Carolina until 2014. I find that music of any genre is much easier to study if you have an understanding of the framework of what you practice. During my time at university I was taught to play all of the woodwinds, focused on pedagogy and music technology, and achieved many awards and recognition.
