My style of teaching is straightforward, fun, focused and also enthusiastic with many years of real life experience behind it. I love teaching in general, and to combine that with something so creative and expressive, is a dream come true! What gets me excited and sustains my passion for teaching is when there are challenges and the student breaks through them and gains knowledge, confidence and hopefully some “life tools” they can bring out into the world. I began teaching guitar in high school to middle school students and continued teaching children and adults throughout college. While in music college, I grew to start to teaching bass guitar as well as drums. My teaching style is focused yet fun. Me and my students always have a good time through my curriculum of theory and how it relates to music they enjoy. Whether it’s finding music theory in Taylor Swift song, or learning the guitar neck through a Beatles solo, I always find a way to teach through interests that the students have rather than force a cookie cutter approach. I always start with what type of music the learner is interested in. This helps engage the learner so that the student comes from a comfortable place, and then we use the lessons from that music to apply and expand to other genres. Read More

I have taught guitar since I was 16 years old. I have taught private lessons and have also directed music ensembles such as a rock band summer camp. I teach students of all ages and all skill levels. I have taught everything from rock, blues, pop, classical, to jazz and beyond. I have performed, written, and recorded with artists and producers from Philadelphia, PA to Los Angeles, CA. That experience has given me a lot of knowledge in the music industry that I like to pass along to my students. Read More

For beginning students, I normally start with Alfred's Drum Method. This book works on the fundamentals of reading snare drum music and basic technique. Once the students grasps the basics on reading and playing with a metronome then we tend to move to Tommy Igoe's Groove Essentials (while still working on the Alfred's Method). After the student has began to play with the audio tracks and have succesfully gone through a few lessons from Groove Essentials then we begin to work on some solo repertoire and personal favorites as well. I pride myself in giving the students an experience they can enjoy! To help with this, I feel it is important for the student to be able to play music they know and enjoy listening to so they can develop more of a connection with the instrument and with the music. To this end, I have a lot of resources to help find sheet music for those songs or I write out the songs myself. Read More

I was also already teaching privately due to demand from the members of of the Princeton and New Jersey Classical Guitar Societies. I was concentrating on classical students but also taught folk, pop, rock, and jazz styles. I did this until the age of 16, when I moved to NYC to begin my Bachelors studies at the Manhattan School of Music under the legendary Manuel Barrueco. I taught both privately and at local NYC music schools during my Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral years of study. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
