I am a musician and artist based in New York City and surrounding areas. I have been playing and studying music since I was a child and have deep love and knowledge for and of the art form. I have taught guitar and piano primarily, but also studied drum set and composition and would be excited to take on a drums or composition student. I've had the opportunity to perform with many musicians in the rock and jazz tradition over the years, as well, as a solo performer, and am always composing and arranging music, or gigging. Read More

I teach to each students style of learning and thinking, and approach my job from a place of complete respect for the students. The most fundamental quality of my teaching style is my desire to make everything I teach relevant and personal for the students, so that they truly connect to what is being taught, rather than simply learning facts and assimilating information. My ultimate goal as a teacher is for my students to be complete, well-rounded players, able to approach any genre with a complete understanding of the depths of music. Read More

I'm a dedicated and passionate student and teacher of music and enjoy teaching just as much as playing. I'm a graduate of Muhlenberg College with a BA in music performance. As much as I love performing in front of an audience, I get the same warm satisfaction out of constant practice and sharpening of my skills on my own. As someone who regularly plays with working, Grammy-nominated musicians in the tri-state area I've found that the musical values I hold dear translate all across the board to all players and styles. For children under the age of 9, I recommend a Suzuki-based method which involves the parents at each lesson and for at-home practice. For children 9 and up, I offer a more traditional classical approach which shows them how to read, interpret and gives them the technical skills on the instrument to enjoy themselves and keep on growing musically. Adults are wonderful students and for each one I craft a path of study to allow them to grow in skill as they master new levels, from absolute beginner to advanced musician. Read More

Since 1996 I have been solely committed to a career in teaching and performing professionally. My Father was an amateur jazz pianist, my Grandmother, a professional opera singer prior to marriage. My earliest memories came with a soundtrack: my Dads piano playing. I studied privately both on piano (early) and guitar (later), starting somewhere in my fifth year. I always took advantage of musical opportunities afforded me at school whenever appropriate, whether that was a school musical, talent show, battle of the bands, jazz band or music elective. I don't have a singular method because every student is different. At the beginning of my lessons with a new student we will begin getting to know each other. Then we try different things. Some students are naturals at imitating what they hear, so we play to those strengths. Other students are more comfortable with structure and math, so we take that route instead. What I find most important is being flexible. Read More

I began taking on some of my own private students around 3 years ago, and quickly fell in love with the idea of giving back to others what I have learned over my years of performing. Introducing students to the basics of guitar and their significance, as well as motivating and informing students of the importance of practice and persistence are some of the key elements I like to emphasize when teaching - especially with younger students.
