I began teaching piano 4 years ago, I had not originally intended on teaching, but I had several people inquire about lessons, since they had seen me perform. I began to pick up more and more students, and I realized that I am actually very passionate about teaching, and sharing all of the knowledge that I acquired over the years. I encourage my students to be creative and write there own music as well as learning traditional and contemporary pieces to even out their repertoire. Read More

When I begin with a new student, I generally jam and analyze my student's abilities, skill level, techniques and interests/desires in music styles. When I have a good idea about my student's ability and skill level, we begin with focusing on what needs to be improved. For beginner children, I like to focus on the fundamentals and keep interest with keeping things creative, exciting and fun! For adults, I like to analyze my student's musical interests and try to associate lessons in that style of repertoire. Read More

My methods include a number of fundamentals that include scales, technique and learning how to get around the instrument with ease and versatility. For beginners, I like to focus on the George Vance techniques and teaching in order to build a strong foundation. At the intermediate level, I like to find out what the students find interesting and cater the lesson plans around that. Same applies for adult students, I like to see where their interest are and focus on those aspects during the lessons while ensuring that their fundamental chops are at the level they need to be. I’ve already stressed this, but I’m always starting at the same level my student is on. The last thing I want to so is overwhelm a beginner! Therefore, my lessons will be tailored to your learning needs and habits. I am always open to feedback, and I encourage students to stop and ask me questions! I’m very laid back. Sure, you could say I’m a hippie, but that doesn't mean I don’t have expectations. Read More

For violin I usually use Suzuki Method and will introduce etudes like Wohlfahrt or Kreutzer. I also have fun with Christmas music, pop and fiddle. If they are young children aged 4-6, I will use the "I Can Read Music" by Joanne Martin. For guitar I use a variety of different classical method and etude books. In addition, I will introduce different genres according to what each student wants to learn, for example, rock, pop, worship, etc. Read More
