I just recently moved back to Colorado from NYC. Up until the day before I moved, I was working as a private music teacher for over 50 different students weekly, in-studio and in-home lessons, ages varying from as young as 2 to adult. Since I've returned, many of those students have continued with me as their teacher via Zoom/Facetime. My students have gone from 5 year old beginners to very accomplished piano and guitar players. The student gets to pick the first two songs of the lesson, and I pick the next 2. That way, they get a lot of choice for the lessons. With the pandemic, the students have been very consistent with not missions lessons, which is pushing their progress as well. Teaching the fundamentals of music gives the student the ability to work on technique development. Once the fundamentals of technique and theory line up then I will begin to introduce songs and solos based on the students ability and interests.
