Vocal technique, including breath support, pitch, range, tone, and style are important for every singer. However, each student is not the same, and it is important to help a student find their natural voice and work from there. A huge part of becoming a better singer has to do with building confidence. Confidence comes from having little successes and getting in touch with one's own natural sound. Then wonderful new sounds and feelings can be built from there. Read More

For beginning flutists, I typically start with the Rubank Elementary Method so that they can have a basic grasp of the fundamentals. Beyond that, I introduce books according to their musical goals and needs. Some of the books my students have studied out of are the Rubank Intermediate/Advanced books and the Melodious and Progressive Studies edited by Cavally. In addition, I have each student regularly work on solo literature so that they can put their hard work on fundamentals into practice. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I had my own piano studio for 5 years and I used to hold annual recital. I took a break of teaching due to relocation. I am passionate about teaching kids piano (mostly classical and a little pops) to keep them engaged. I do request consistent practice of more than 30 minutes a week for young students. It help to establish routine for them to be successful later in piano. If a students need more help, I do recommend a longer lesson (45 minutes) or twice a week lesson. Read More

I remember always playing music around my friends, and some of them would ask questions regarding chords, melodies, and basic music theory. After having failed music theory in high school, I pulled a ‘180’ in college, passing all my music theory courses with 90-100% scores. So, I felt I’d be a trusted candidate to start tutoring classmates and friends in music theory. Read More

My methods really depend on the level of the student. For beginners, I tend to stick to basics by teaching them chords, scales, and basic music theory; by using music that they would like to learn how to play. To aid with the learning of basic music theory, I might have the students learn some older music, just as a chance to analyze it, but nothing more than that unless of course they would like to. One of my favorite things to do is share my passion for music with others. I've found music to be the greatest inspiration in my life, and I love being able to introduce it to my students. I've been taking piano lessons ever since I can remember, becoming more and more serious as the years passed. In 2009, I joined a choir and a band through American Music Abroad, which took me on a 3 week tour of Europe. Read More
