I'm well-versed in rock, metal, and pop playing styles and I welcome any musical genre. I prioritize fundamentals and fun in the learning process, while taking every opportunity to challenge my students. Instilling confidence in students is important because it helps them break out of their comfort zone. and open to using cross-disciplinary approaches to enhance a student's understanding of music theory and technique. My goal is to present new approaches that are tailored to each student's needs. Read More

When teaching children, I make sure to take advantage of their neuroplasticity by mastering the basics of rhythm, sight-reading and phrasing, all while making it fun and intuitive. The objective here is to give the child the ability to use musicality as an expressive resource, which will improve the child's musical cognition but also his speech and math skills -- I speak from personal experience, as I started taking music lessons when I was five and now I speak five languages, besides never having difficulties with math. My style of teaching is very fast-paced but depending on the student. I want to keep the student comfortable but focused at the same time on their goal. I'm all about the needs of the student if they feel that they can move forward and prove themselves of it we can move as fast or as slow as they would like as long as the ending results is growth will it be small growth or large growth. While teaching I emphasize relaxation. Our goal is to achieve the best results with the least amount of effort. This emphasis also prevents injuries, and I've found it always improves the speed at which we learn. My teaching style is always relaxed. Gradually, as the student advances I learn how much I should expect from them and gently push them to expecting more from themselves over time. I am certainly more hard on students aiming to become professionals and play their instrument as a profession than I am on those seeking just to enjoy it as a hobby, but all of these students eventually can play the highest level of music, at their own pace. For students of all ages, I like to lead with the quote from Marcel Moyse; "Practicing is a matter a time, patience and intelligent work", for I believe that once this is applied to the idea of practicing and general encounters with ones instrument, then success and progress is guaranteed. Aside from that principle, I like the idea of independent work from students to keep them accountable on the journey to becoming a musician but a more interactive and demonstrative approach during the lesson to give students an idea of what needs to be done while being that good role model so that they may keep motivated work hard at becoming the best possible musicians. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as i began teaching private lessons part time 8 years ago, and i have been consistently teaching students in-person and online for about 5 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy percussion and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
