Growing up I’ve had a variety of coaches, one thing I noticed is that I was always lost enameled by the teachers that nurtured my creativity. Many times there are music teachers that only teach what they like and what they know. My students can expect to expand their versatility but as a smaller portion of the overall focus. My methods and practice is very student centered. It is my job whether the student is aware of what they want to learn to find out what they are most passionate about and nurture that to grow. I'm an organized and efficient teacher who loves to find ways to push students to the next level; whether that level is playing professionally or as a hobby. I believe in clear direction and learning how to play the right way the first time. I have been teaching lessons since 2006 when I started as a music major at Asbury Univeristy, a private, liberal arts college outside of Lexington, KY. My experience with vocal coaching started when I was a young girl helping to teach my church's choir parts for songs we had to learn. Once I went to college I joined the Gospel Chorale at Virginia State University where I helped guide the alto section for a month long European Christmas tour. I had the pleasure of coaching and singing on tour twice while in college. I graduated and went into teaching my own lessons while also assistant teaching for choir at a middle school. Read More

I have been teaching piano to students age 4 to 60 for five years. I enjoy not only teaching the rules and techniques of piano performance; I also try to impart a love of music and to make students realize that it adds a wonderful dimension to their lives that carries over to many other areas. One of my Ga. Tech/Atlanta students connects with his grandmother in France via Skype and plays for her. Read More

For beginning students I like to start with the Standard of Excellence book 1. Getting through that book we would advance to Rubanks Advanced Method Vol. 1 book. Perfecting the sound and tone is key to making a piece of music sound good followed by inputting expression and giving it color to a piece making it have more characteristic than just a piece of music. I try to keep it fun and exciting to keep the interest in learn stay captivated no matter their ability level. Read More
